NucleoMag DNA Food is designed for rapid manual or automated small-scale isolation of genomic DNA from up to 200 mg of food or feed samples of plant or animal origin, with typical yields ranging from 0.1–10 μg of pure DNA. The procedure is based on reversible adsorption of nucleic acids to paramagnetic beads under appropriate buffer conditions. Magnetic separation can be performed either manually using the NucleoMag SEP magnetic separator or on an automated platform using standard liquid handling instruments and magnetic separators. Manual preparation of 96 samples in parallel can be completed in approximately 2 hours using NucleoMag SEP. Automated preparation of 96 samples can be completed in less than 2 hours depending on the configuration of the automation platform and the separator being used.
