YPDA rich media
YPDA yeast media pouches provide media aliquoted in highly convenient pouches. Simply empty the contents of each into your media flask/bottle, add 0.5 L of dH2O, and sterilize. No weighing of individual supplements, combining, or pH adjustment is required. All media pouch mixes are available either with agar or without (broth).
YPDA is a blend of peptone, yeast extract, and dextrose in optimal proportions for routine subculture of Saccharomyces cerevisiae, but with the addition of an adenine hemisulfate supplement to a final 1X concentration of 120 mg/L. The adenine supplement prevents yeast strains harboring ADE1 and ADE2 mutations (e.g., Y2HGold, AH109, and Y187) from turning pink/red after extended growth.
