A one health approach: Wastewater surveillance for AMR
In this panel, Dr. Windi Muziasari, CEO of our technology partner company Resistomap, discussed current challenges and new advancements in the field of wastewater surveillance. Since 2019, Resistomap has optimized use of Takara Bio's flexible, high-throughput SmartChip Real-Time PCR System to quantify environmental DNA samples and hundreds of targeted genes associated with AMR. Moving forward, Dr. Muziasari and the Resistomap team are excited to try the new SmartChip ND Real-Time PCR System to enhance their gene quantification processes and improve environmental monitoring of AMR-associated genes.

In this talk, Dr. Rohit Kadam spoke about the importance of AMR surveillance and gave an overview of current surveillance methodologies, with a focus on challenges the field faces moving forward. Dr. Kadam introduced a novel approach using familiar science to better achieve comprehensive nanoscale surveillance of antimicrobial resistance genes (ARGs).
