Wild-type GFP & GFPuv fluorescent proteins
Living Colors GFP and GFPuv are bacterial expression vectors that carry the gene for either GFP (wild-type Aequorea victoria green fluorescent protein) or GFPuv (a GFP variant optimized for maximal fluorescence when excited by UV light described by Crameri et al. 1996) GFP and GFPuv expression are driven by the lac promoter. For applications in mammalian cells, we recommend either AcGFP1 or ZsGreen1 fluorescent proteins.
Overview
- Green fluorescent proteins from Aequorea victoria
- pGFP encodes wild-type GFP
- pGFPuv encodes a GFP variant optimized for maximal fluorescence when excited by standard UV light (360–400 nm)
