The NucleoSpin totalRNA FFPE and NucleoSpin totalRNA FFPE XS kits provide a fast, efficient, and convenient method for isolating both small (e.g., miRNA) and large RNAs from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue.
NucleoSpin totalRNA FFPE includes mini spin columns (30–50 µl elution volume) to purify standard FFPE samples (<50 mg tissue), while NucleoSpin totalRNA FFPE XS includes XS columns (5–30 µl elution volume) to purify very small FFPE samples (<5 mg tissue, e.g., microdissections). Both kits include blue-colored Paraffin Dissolver for easy visualization of phase separation and convenient paraffin removal without using toxic organic solvents (such as xylene), and rDNase for efficient on-column DNA removal. The kits combine decrosslinking and tissue lysis in one step, providing reliable yields of high-quality total RNA for enhanced RT-PCR performance. The NucleoSpin totalRNA FFPE XS kit makes it possible to isolate highly concentrated RNA suitable for qRT-PCR from even trace amounts of FFPE samples.

The better way to isolate RNA
Critical factors when purifying RNA are the complete removal of contaminating DNA (gDNA) and the immediate prevention of degradation of RNA. The NucleoSpin RNA Plus kit introduces the NucleoSpin gDNA Removal Column, a spin column which quickly and completely removes genomic DNA contamination without the need for DNase digestion. To maintain RNA integrity, cells and tissues are first lysed by incubation in a chaotropic ion lysis buffer solution, which immediately inactivates RNases.
